GLACD has been serving the diving community in Southern California for nearly 40 years, protecting divers interests through legislation, safety and training, conservation and competition.
Our legislative efforts helped to ban commercial gil net fishing near our ocean shores, help prevent over fishing of abalone, and we're now active in the Marine Life Management Act implementation.
We are the leading organization offering monthly in-water safety seminars in beach diving skills and techniques known as 3R's.. In 2000, we kicked off an awareness program to alert boaters to stay clear of vessels and floats displaying dive flags.
In conservation, we've been active though out our history with coastal monitoring, coastal clean-ups, fish counts & efforts with Heal The Bay.
In competition, we are active in with photo fishing, spear fishing competitions, and Underwater Hockey played in Santa Clarita, Woodland Hills & Lynwood.
The Greater Los Angeles Council of Divers is busy in many areas and could use your support. Please come to a meeting and contribute your time and resources. |
